COAS Munir calls on PM Shehbaz

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Asim Munir on Monday called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Sources said the two leaders met at the Prime Minister House and exchanged thoughts on country’s law and order situation. The COAS briefed PM Shehbaz on professional matters of the army.

The meeting also deliberated over the implementation of decisions taken at the National Security Committee meeting and the intelligence-based operations against terrorism.

Earlier, COAS Munir declared that the nation would not forgive those responsible for the May 9 incidents. He expressed these sentiments during his visit to the Police Lines in Islamabad on the occasion of Pakistan Martyrs' Day, says the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The army chief said the events of May 9 were deeply saddening and condemnable. He emphasised that the nation would not tolerate any disrespect towards the memorials of martyrs or any action that undermined their honour.

The sacrifices made by these martyrs could not be erased. The Pakistan army, along with the police and other law-enforcement agencies, served as a symbol of the state and acts as its frontline defence, he said. He praised their unwavering commitment and readiness to make any sacrifice for the country's dignity.

The COAS conveyed a resolute message to the families of the martyrs, assuring them of the solidarity and support of the people and armed forces. He emphasised that both the nation and its forces stood with the families of martyrs.
